Career Training for the Dfferently Abled

Education should open up an individual’s mind and create citizens who are sensitive to human dignity across all classes and genres, eschewing bias of any kind.

All institutes should aim to provide an environment that will present equal opportunities to all young adults who do not function optimally in a traditional academic set up. This should also include individuals who may be differently-abled.

A workable module can be based on the principal of 'learning by doing'.. Over the years that I have worked with the specially abled, I have come to recognize the need to share our responsibility with the rest of the 'normal' world. What has worked for the youngsters that I have trained is a Partner Ship with corporates. They are all looking to contribute - if only someone can tell them how!

One leader in industry with which we have teamed up is the Trident, Gurgaon where our interns are working alongside full-time employees. Entry into this in-house program is a coveted opportunity even for top graduates of the country’s finest schools of hotel management. Our other internship partners are GENESIS-SatyaPaul ,Gurgaon: The Sheraton,New Delhi and LYNX Overseas, Gurgaon. In all these organizations, the interns are training along with the full-time employees.
We now have ITC join hands with us, as well as MAX NEWYORK LIFE.

I am hoping that by the end of the training , these differently abled youngsters are employable for ANY one, not just by the organizations that have trained them.

We often get our interns to themselves make a presentation, as to how they have benefited from the industry and how the Corporate has benefited from this partnership. We would like to take this partnership further with other Corporates so that more and more differently-abled youngsters can gain from this experiment.
We are in the process of sensitizing more Corporates towards this cause and would like to share this initiative with you so that you get a first hand feel of this experience.
